In 1986, when Greg Constantine was in his teens, his father suffered a massive stroke, disabling his right side and leaving him unable to speak or communicate in a normal capacity. Now, 14 years later, Greg is on a quest-to combine his interest in world societies, with his desire to learn about how people in other countries have adapted to dealing with stroke. Just as in the U.S., stroke is one of the major causes of death an disability just about anywhere in the world. Greg's mission is to discover how other societies, governments, health care systems, and religions deal with stroke survivors.
Greg began his trip in Thailand, and continues to travel the world. He has kindly offered to send us installments in his quest, with his observations about how stroke survivors manage and are treated throughout the world.
We are certain that you will find Greg's observations mesmerizing, and we are very honored that he would choose to share them with all of us. If you wish to contact Greg with your reactions to his writings, you may reach him at gregc@strokesafe.org
